   Trinity Consultants (Dallas, TX), an environmental consulting firm specializing in air quality, has recapitalized through an investment by Gryphon Investors (San Francisco, CA), a middle-market private equity firm. Gryphon acquired a controlling interest in Trinity from Sentinel Capital Partners (New York, NY), which has been Trinity’s majority owner since 2007. John Hoffman, who has been Trinity’s president and CEO since 2001, will retain those positions under the new ownership. “Trinity’s management team is confident that Gryphon will make an excellent partner going forward,” said Hoffman. “From the beginning, we were impressed by how well they understood our business and supported our growth objectives.”   Alex Earls, head of Gryphon’s Business Services Group, commented “Gryphon has proactively targeted the environmental services sector over the last several years, and we are especially pleased to partner with such a strong management team in acquiring this market-leading business.
