Waste Management Inc. of Florida, a subsidiary of Waste Management, Inc. (Houston, TX), has acquired a Southeastern Recycling (Miami, FL), operator of a single-stream recycling facility serving more than 1,000 customers in the Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach communities. “The acquisition of Southeastern Recycling expands our capabilities of processing single-stream commercial and residential recycling materials and allows us to meet the growing needs of our customers in south Florida,” said Tim Hawkins, Waste Management’s vice president for the south Florida region. Waste Management currently operates the Reuter Recycling Center in Pembroke Pines, Florida., which the company claims is the largest residential single-stream recycling facility in the southeastern United States, with a daily capacity of more than 20,000 tons.
