   In an “interim management statement” released earlier this month, global environmental consultancy RPS Group Plc (Abingdon, U.K.) disclosed that it has recently acquired two companies in the United States and restructured some of its European operations. In the U.S., RPS has acquired environmental consulting and engineering firm Espey Consultants, Inc. (Austin, TX) for about $6 million and oceanographic consultancy Applied Science Associates, Inc. (South Kingston, RI) for about $13.5 million. Espey Consultants specializes in complex engineering projects in water resource management and generated revenue totaling $12.5 million in 2010. Applied Science Associates, which provides marine environment consulting and modeling services worldwide, generated $9.7 million in revenue during 2010. Separately, RPS has merged its U.K. and Irish planning and development business with its U.K. and Dutch environmental management division.
