ALS Group acquires Columbia Analytical Services

The long-anticipated sale of environmental testing firm Columbia Analytical Services (CAS; Kelso, WA) has finally come to pass, as The ALS Group (Houston, TX), a unit of Australia’s Campbell Brothers Ltd., has announced the acquisition of the company. Columbia Analytical is the sixth largest environmental laboratory company in North America, generating about $41.6 million in annual revenue and operating six laboratories in Washington, California, Arizona, Texas, Florida, and New York. The ALS Group is parent to ALS Environmental, the fifth largest environmental testing firm in North America with annual revenue of about $55.4 million. “The technical expertise, reputation, and service excellence that CAS has developed complements and broadens our existing USA-based business,” said Raj Naran, ALS Environmental vice president with responsibility for North America and Europe. “With the addition of CAS, ALS is well positioned in the USA environmental market as a premier provider of analytical services. In the future, we plan to further expand our market reach in the USA by providing clients with access to the combined services of CAS and ALS in a larger number of locations and a broader base of capabilities.”
