ARCADIS (Denver, CO) disclosed that it has been awarded a $30 million contract from a public utility in the western United States to remediate a 100-acre contaminated site. The company said that the site contains tens of thousands of cubic yards of contaminated sediment, and that the work will include the restoration of tidal wetlands and the creation of public open space. ARCADIS also noted that it will implement sustainable remediation practices during the course of the project. “This project allows Arcadis to implement best practices in site cleanup,” said Steve Blake, ARCADIS’s U.S. chief executive. “In only a year and a half, tidal wetlands will be restored within a significant ecosystem, air and water quality will improve, and the property will be given a second chance at productive use.”
